About The Alberta WRESTLING Academy

We offer training in both disciplines of Wrestling

Decide which one is for you. We take pride that we offer professional coaching in both disciplines and that all coaches in our program work together insuring the best outcome for our clients.

Professional Wrestling

Professional wrestling in the United States began in the 19th century as a genuine competitive sport (shoot matches, as insiders call them), but wrestlers began choreographing their matches (worked matches) to make the matches less physically taxing, shorter in duration, and more entertaining for spectators. This allowed the wrestlers to perform more frequently and attracted larger audiences (and revenues) for promoters. This business model was very successful and was imitated in other countries, with particular success in Mexico and Japan. For a long time, those in the wrestling industry's notoriously insular community would not admit their "sport" was just theater, as the suspension of disbelief was crucial to the fans' enjoyment (and therefore, also crucial to performers' and promoters' livelihoods). Nowadays (in the United States, at least) it is normal for the wrestlers and promoters to either partially or completely acknowledge wrestling's essence as predetermined entertainment to the public. This development occurred upon promoters learning in the 1980's that the fans don't mind if the wrestlers break character "off-stage".

Olympic or Amateur Wrestling

Amateur Wrestling is the most widespread form of sport wrestling in the world, there are two international wrestling styles performed in the Olympic games, which are free style and Greco-Roman. Both styles are under the supervision of the United World Wrestling (UWW; Formally known as FILA, from the French acronym for International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles. A similar style, commonly called collegiate (Also known as scholastic or folk style), is practiced in colleges and universities, secondary schools, middle schools, and among younger age groups in the United states. Where the style is not specified, this article refers to the international styles of competition on a mat. In February 2013, the International

Olympic committee (IOC) voted to remove the sport from the 2020 the rapid rise is the popularity of the combat sport mixed martial arts (MMA) has increased interest in amateur wrestling due to its effectiveness in the sport and it is considered a core discipline.

RYAN HANSON

Owner- Hard Wired Wellness

Prescript Level 1 Certified strength/Conditioning Coach

- Wellness and Personal Development

Born and raised in Calgary Alberta I grew up on the ice until I was 12, once I stopped playing hockey my interests jumped between art and cars.

I then became a carpenter all over western Canada.

I have now found my way to Alberta Wrestling Academy because strength and wellness has become my obsession. I have gained a wealth of knowledge through my own journey of sports, injury recovery, anxiety, beating obesity and other amazing learning experiences that has built me a path to weight training and nutrition.

My journey began in 2010, in 2018 after suffering 2 panic attacks I knew I was not in the right frame of mind, but knew it was not physical. I began a deep dive into finding myself and becoming who I truly wanted to be.

I have now nailed down strength training everyday for 10 years. I have done this by adding daily meditation and learning practices through pod casts, videos, webinars and expanding my knowledge through books on philosophy, nutrition, habits and personal growth. I have also studied, books on neuroplasticity, brain training, business, parenting, breathing, psychology and more.

I have completed my Pre-script Level 1 strength

Coach Certificate and with my previous knowledge will allow me the opportunity to lead students of all ages with a great life of amazing experiences.

My goal is to help guide the students to become the best version of themselves and reach their goals to be the best imaginable superstar.

I am excited to be a part of all the students journey into hardwiring their wellness into their lives.
